Jon will no longer be participating in project perfection secondary to some unrelated health issues.  We were honored to have the opportunity to work with him.  His progress over the first 6 weeks was incredible as seen by the photographs below.  Jon lost close to 9 percent bodyfat and approximately 17 pound.  These results were achieved through 6 weeks of adherence to the diet and exercise program.  Jon did not  cheat even 1 day.  Jon achieved these results all naturally, without any performance enhancing supplements.

EarlyBarbellEverything is coming along nicely. Both Carley and Jon are progressing in their physique and strength. Their workout programs were reviewed this weekend. They are scheduled to have their measurements taken next week. Stay tuned.

Carley’s improvements are most noted in the upper body. When reviewing her program it was noted she is most comfortable with her upper body exercises and cardio activities. Her intensity was not as high as it should be for her lowers. Jon also shows his greatest improvements in his upper body. He refuses to unveil his abdominals until next week. Both of their workout programs are scheduled to be changed after next week. It looks like a second phase of hypertrophy activities are in store. Reps. And sets will be set to achieve the goals of the hypertrophy phase. Jennifer McDaniel is working closely with Carley and Jon to match their diets to meet the goals of their exercise program. Both feel her advice on nutrition has been quite helpful.

Next week is the moment of truth, reassessment! We look forward to seeing the results. Check back next week. Please feel free to send us your comments.

feetMechanism of injury

Assuming there has not been a traumatic event, an athlete’s knee, ankle, or foot pain may be the result of a problem located anywhere along the kinetic chain. There is a growing body of evidence showing a high relationship between hip weakness and lower extremity injuries.

Why hip strength matters and What you can do…

Loss of stability, strength, or mobility in any one of these planes may result in abnormal stresses being placed on soft tissue (ligaments, muscles, tendons, etc) and joints.  When  Continue reading »

EarlyBarbellKinetic Connections is excited to announce we will be venturing into the world of bodybuilding. We have committed to training two athletes, Carley Karwoski and Jon Krizman. Their goal is to train for a figure competition and a bodybuilding competition. We have offered to assist them with their training. This is something completely new to us. Our background lies in weightlifting mainly to enhance performance on the playing field. Snap 24 Hour Fitness in Lake Villa has offered to help with providing a home gym to work out of a Nourish, LLC out of St. Louis, Mo. has shown an interest in providing nutritional consultation. On our end, Kinetic Connections will be providing workout routines and supervision in the gym. This is a learning process for all involved. We are excited to do something new and a little out of our comfort zone. Over the next year we will be journaling our progress through this journey. We will start with baseline measurements and photos and hopefully follow this project through to a competition late next fall or early next winter. Please join us as we navigate through this experience.
