Happy Easter! We continue on with a wet spring. Fortunately, our athletes continue to play their sports rain or shine. Hopefully the summer will be a lot dryer and sunnier than this spring has been. We have added the registration for our summer camps to our website. We are offering our S.P.A. (Speed. Power. Agility.) camp for the sixth year in a row . We are also offering our two week program to improve linear speed. You can register online, or by downloading the form and sending the completed form to us. If you have any specific questions regarding the camps, please don’t hesitate to call us at 847-395-6100 or e-mail your questions to us at info@kcconditioning.com. We are happy to announce our prices will not be going up. The price for the S.P.A. camp is $120.00 and Linear Running is $60.00. If you know of  dates you will not be able to attend in advance, you can mark them down and deduct $10.00 for each session you will be missing. We do not reimburse for sessions that were randomly missed. Our organization and staff are dedicated to providing the most up-to-date,  scientifically proven training techniques available at a very affordable price. This has been the mission of Kinetic Connections since it’s origination. Our athletes that have made a commitment to following our training programs have always seen success in their performance on the field. Many have gone on to become standouts in their sports.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our services and meet the needs of our clients. We are not sure if the public knows all that we offer. The following list summarizes some of the training and instruction we have offered in the past: Personal Training, Team Training, Instruction in Weightlifting, Fitness Testing, Sports Conditioning, Consultation in Proper Eating and Nutritional ( specific programs we have referred to a Licensed Dietitian), Injury Prevention, Weight Loss, and Speed and Agility. We have training that is open to adults on a pay as you go basis, and a pay as you go sports conditioning program for athletes junior high through college age. If you have any ideas on improving our already in place services, or suggestions for new programs, we would love to hear from you.

Have a good week.

Hello everybody. We had a good week. We have started to see some of our younger athletes return for our weekend workouts. We have announced our starting date for this summer’s Speed and Agility camp. The first day is June 14th and it will run for 4 weeks on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. The first session will run for 4 weeks. We will hold a two week session on the same days immediately following the 4 week session. The second session will address running speed only. On Saturday, June 11th, we will be holding a combine style, testing session. The session is free and open to all athletes who are signed up for the summer S.P.A. ( Speed,Power,Agility) camp. We were at Antioch H.S. this past week to announce our summer camp. We hope to see you all there this summer. Please check our website for further information or call Larry or Steve at 847-395-6100.

Congratulations to Angelina (Angel) Kunkel. She fought in a Martial Arts competition over the weekend and took two silvers and one gold medal. Her hard work and dedication are starting to pay off. We bumped into Josh Antilla, and he reports his 100 meter times have improved this year. He has PR’d this season and has his sights set on qualifying for state. Our softball girls are all doing well. It is always nice to herar the successes of our athletes. Please feel free to send us your success stories.

Have a good week

Hello everybody from the staff at Kinetic Connections. I am happy to say I am writing this newsletter after completing the Go St. Louis! half marathon. 25,000 marathoners and half marathoners signed up to participate this year. Only 17,000 lined up to start the races. 10,000 runners completed the half marathon and far less completed the full marathon distance. The marathon was stopped after 2 hours due to excessive heat. It was unfortunate for those that completed all of their training for the full marathon. Sometimes you have to be smart and make changes in your plans as things happen. I was able to see what happens to people that have one plan and they try to carry it out, even though it doesn’t fit the situation. I could tell some people were going to be in trouble before the race even started. How? They were overdressed. People who insist on wearing running warm-ups or tights, when it is 70 degrees at the start of the race, are asking for trouble.  The ones that really made a bad decision, were the ones that were serious runners. Some of them didn’t change their plans and ran without increasing their fluid intake. These people made it to the finish line, but they required an ambulance ride and a trip to the hospital. I have never seen so many apparently in-shape, runners collapse. The weirdest thing about watching them collapse was that they did not appear to have any warning. The point here is, no matter how good of shape you are in, how great of an athlete you are, you need to be smart and adapt to situation as it is happening. Many people have one plan and no back-up. When the plan doesn’t fit the situation, disaster occurs. Be smart, train smart, and compete smart. The outcome will always be better and you will be able to return to compete another day. With all the science and research out there today, somebody collapsing from heat exhaustion in high temperatures should be the exception, not the norm.

Have a good week
