Project Perfection Week 16
Carley has her new workout in hand. She will be getting together with us to review the workout and go through all the steps. Our focus will be more on weight loss and improving her proportion from bottom to top. There will be more aerobic and interval training and less weight training. We have changed the weightlifting program to maintain what she has gained. She will be working with each muscle group one time a week only and she will be adhering to 4:1 weightlifting rhythm ( 4count for contraction, 1count for relaxation). Again, stay tuned for all of her workout routines to date. We will be posting them soon.
Both Carley and Jon attended the 2010 Heart of America Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Competition in Peoria, IL. Carley’s comment, “The competition was awesome, th the entire time during the figure portion of the competition, Jon and I were sizing me up. Seeing what I need to work on, and I feel all I really need to work on is weight loss.. These girls were not ripped at all, and definition was not significant… I feel like this is something I could definitely succeed in. ” We at Kinetic Connections are happy. Two goals were achieved: 1) Carley saw what the reality of all her work is leading toward, and 2) She realized what she needed to do to be more competitive, lose some weight. Ironically, Carley received her workout last Friday and weight loss is the goal of this phase of her program. We’re all on the same page and moving forward. We’re about 1/3 to 1/2 way to competition. Stay with us. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact us.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. The demands of being a mother are quite draining. Juggling busy family schedules, working, and keeping the family on track every day of the week and every week of the year is not easy. Mom’s can’t afford the time it takes to recover when they are sick. Mom’s can’t afford the time to recover from injuries. Mom’s can’t afford any time for themselves. Basically without mom, we don’t have anybody steering the rudder of the family. Times have changed. Mom’s are the strong members of the family. They keep us on track. In order to do this, mom has to be healthy every day. If there is one gift we can all give our mothers or wives, it is the time it takes to take care 0f themselves. A healthy mom pays great dividends on all ends. It doesn’t cost anything. Make the effort to allow mom the time she needs to take care of herself.
Taking care of ourselves and living more healthy and productive lifestyles is one of the goals we pursue every day at Kinetic Connections. We hope everybody we work with achieves these goals. If you haven’t already done so, please take a look at our website and see if there is a program we offer that may fit into your health goals. We would love to help you either improve your lifestyle or improve your athletic abilities. One of our clients suggested we offer gift certificates to our workout groups. These can be arranged. We are now able to take payments on PayPal under services@kcconditioning.com. When paying us, select the category that suits your payment best or write a memo in the memo column. More specific instructions on paying by PayPal will be available in a specific column devoted to use of our PayPal account. Please check back on 5/11/10.

Project Perfection 2010 Week 15
Our third assessment took place today. As always, the results were surprising and not what was expected. Carley is our only athlete participating at this time. There is still hope Jon can return to the Project, pending good results from his ongoing tests. We’re all pulling for him to test out negative. So far things have been good. Keep your fingers crossed. On the other hand, Carley turned in some interesting numbers today. From a trainer’s point of view, all were good. From the perspective of a female, not all numbers were pleasing.
Carley continues to show great changes in body composition. This can be seen in the photos taken during today’s assessment. They will be posted later this week. Her muscle tone continues to improve and her bodyfat continues to decrease. As we all know, muscle is heavier than fat. This is where the disappointing number comes into play for Carley. She gained 7 pounds. This is not unusual for people working out at this volume and with the type of intensity Carley is working at. Weight can become a trap in ones thinking. This is an issue we will be dealing with in phase III. She showed a drop in hip and thigh measurements and an increase in her shoulders, chest, and arms. She also lost close to 1% in bodyfat over the last 7 weeks. We have charted all measurements from all assessments on a flow sheet. The flow sheet and their workout programs will be posted in the future for you to observe.
The start of phase III is on. Our goals are to taper Carley’s body to match symmetrically from bottom to top. Our focus is going to be on reducing hip and shoulder size while maintaining tone in the arms and lower legs. The format and focus of the workouts will be changing drastically. Carley feels the change in the workouts will be a reward. Her opinion may change after she gets into the new program. We’ll see.
