kcspa071306copyThe topic for this week is inspiration. People draw inspiration from their own experiences and observations. The “Biggest Loser” television show has inspired thousands of people to get started on their fitness and weight loss programs. Seeing the contestants in a seemingly hopeless situation overcome their obstacles, succeed, and totally turn their life around, not only fascinates people, but also makes people think, “Hey, I can do that. If those people can do that, so can I.” That’s where it stops for most of us. I was in St. Louis this past weekend and had the chance to watch the St. Louis Marathon and Half Marathon. Watching the excitement and joy on the faces of the runners as they crossed the finish line was inspiring to me. I have run in both marathons and half marathons, and it was still inspiring to me to watch. Many of the runners were overweight, older, and just in general did not appear able to complete such a feat. If you doubt you could run a race of any distance, I would highly suggest you stand at the finish line at a race of the distance you would like to try. I guarantee you will be inspired.

When starting any type of  exercise routine, people need to be inspired. If you are looking for inspiration, you can find it from many sources. It may come in the form of a story in the paper, a movie, or a book about somebody who overcame the odds stacked against them and succeeded. When you break it down, these people aren’t much different than you. They were usually inspired by a person or a situation in their life. From that inspiration, they moved forward and let nothing get in their way. Try it. You’d be surprised. We’re here for you if you are looking for support and inspiration. Don’t stop at your moment of inspiration. Take that inspiration and use it as a means to get through your obstacles. Who knows, maybe some day there will be a story out there about you. Most success stories start with an ordinary person just like you.

Have a good week!

larryHappy Easter from all of us at Kinetic Connections. There was a slow down this week in our training programs. This was mainly due to Spring Break, Easter, and the people training for baseball starting their seasons. Again, we have seen a rise in the number of young females who play basketball working out with us. We are in the process of making out our schedules for the summer. We are happy to announce we will be holding a camp the last two and a half weeks of June specifically for football players between the ages of 9-13. We are holding this camp at BatSpeed in Gurnee. The players will have the benefit of working on artificial turff, and there is air conditioning. If you are interested or know somebody that may have an athlete who would benefit from services, please contact us . Check the website for all of the details. We will be holding our SPA (Speed, Power, Agility) in June and July at Grass Lake School. These camps are geared toward athletes Junior High and above that will be participating in fall sports. More information to come on that one. Keep checking the website or call us for specifics. We hope your Easter finds you healthy.

carleyfaceWeek 10 has been slow. Jon has not been able to work out due to family circumstances beyond his control. The important thing to remember, family comes first. The workouts will always be there. Jon is experiencing the letdown that comes with stopping exercise completely. The emotional high of intense exercise can be quite addicting. We have encouraged Jon to do whatever he can i.e. take a run, do a light workout, or just calisthetics. Doing a little is better than nothing. Jon hopes to be back on track within the week and he is looking forward to the next reassessment.

On the other side, Carley has been struggling with the time commitment and intensity of the new program.  The results should make the trials and tribulations worth it. There is not much more to add. The goal for us this week is to be in good communication with our athletes and to give them whatever support they need to get through this. They will be rewarded for their hard work in phase three with a much deserved recovery phase.
