The weekend training sessions at Grass Lake School have grown steadily throughout the winter. Baseball and softball season are starting in Illinois. We have lost the athletes who play these sports, but we have seen a rise in football and basketball players attending the weekend sessions. There has been a steady request for us to initiate more sport specific conditioning camps for basketbal, volleyball, and football. At this time we are looking into starting sessions specific to basketball and volleyball combined, and a football combine style training session. The sessions will tentatively start in April. The group for 9-11 year olds has also become quite popular and will continue until the end of the school year. If you know anybody who has an athlete interested in any of the above groups, please have them contact us as soon as possible. Some of our decisions rely on the number of athletes participating.

Project Perfection 2010 continues to move forward. Jon and Carley received their workout programs for the next six weeks. This phase should be the most challenging for them. All of their programs will be posted for your viewing. Please be patient.

Last of all, summer is around the corner. We at Kinetic Connections encourage all of you to set your workout goals for the summer now. Think of getting out of your comfort zone and doing something you don’t ordinarily do, like run or walk in a 5K on the 4th of July. If you don’t have goals, you don’t have anything to work toward. If you don’t have anything to work toward, you don’t have any reason to get started. Start with setting goals. Who knows where you’ll go from there?

It is hard to believe six weeks have already gone by.  Today was the first of many reassessment days. Jon and Carley were weighed, had their percent body fat calculated, and had their circumferences throughout measured. We have also taken pictures. Unfortunately, Jon has requested we not post the before and after pictures yet. They will be posted after the next six week phase. The results were simply amazing.

They both lost weight with Carley losing two and a half pounds and Jon losing 17 pounds.  Jon dropped from 224 pounds to 207 pounds. His body fat dropped just under 9% from 16.46% to 7.47%. Carley lost Continue reading »

What’s Halas Hall, Kinetic Connections, Lake Forest Police, and Baseball have in Common?

Kinetic Connections was invited to participate in one of the largest free baseball clinics in the United States.  Lake Forest Police Department sponsored there annual all day baseball clinic on February 28, 2010.  Kinetic Connections manned the speed and agility station.  We had the good fortune to work with approximately 25o young athletes.

At the end of the camp all athletes were given the opportunity to test their skills and compete at the various stations.  Batspeed and Kinetic Connections donated free training sessions to the winners as well as free training sessions for the raffle.  We look forward to working with these lucky winners at Batspeed in the near future.  Contact us to begin your training sessions.
